August 2007

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to school!  We hope you and your child had a fun-filled summer.  We are excited about the new school year and the opportunity to work with your child to make this year fun and educational.

One of the areas on which we will be focusing this year will be learning to work cooperatively.  Using a community set of supplies will be an integral part of this focus.  This means that all students will share all supplies.  In order to avoid conflict and hurt feelings, we are asking for very specific items so that materials will look the same at each table.  Please, do not put your child’s name on any supplies unless specified below.  We prefer that you bring your supplies to the A.C.E. orientation on Thursday, August 9th at 7:00 p.m., or you may bring them on the first day of school.

Supplies:

  • Backpack with child’s name (no backpacks with wheels, please)

  • 5 boxes of Crayola crayons (8 count)

  • 3 packages of real wood pencils (12 count)

Fifth Grade

August 2007

Dear Parents,

Welcome to 5th grade at Athens-Chilesburg Elementary! We are your 5th grade team and we look so forward to meeting all of you! We also look forward to a wonderful, collaborative partnership with you concerning the preparation of your child for middle school.  That preparation starts with the tools necessary to succeed.

Below you will find our fifth grade supply list. You may notice that a couple of things are denoted as “homework” items.  These are things that your child will need to have at home to complete homework. We have these items at school as well, but they get used from year to year and need to stay in the building.

There are a couple of things that you will need to purchase, however we do not yet have the official prices for these items. The items are a student agenda planner and a periodical newspaper. As soon as we have the cost information, we’ll pass it on to you.

Again, we look so forward to getting to know your child and working with each of you! You’ll hear from us often, but if you need anything at all in the meantime, please feel free to call us at school any time.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Brown,   Kellie Little,   Karen Stewart
